Ingredients:

  • 500g of chicken thighs
  • 100g of all-purpose flour
  • 50g of corn starch
  • 2 eggs
  • 200ml of buttermilk
  • 1 tsp of paprika
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp of onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Kitchen Tools Needed:

  • Deep fryer
  • Meat thermometer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Tongs
  • Paper towels

Instructions:

  • Marinate the chicken thighs in buttermilk, salt, and pepper for at least 15 minutes to tenderize and flavor.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, corn starch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to create the coating mixture.
  • In another bowl, whisk the eggs until well beaten.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade and allow excess buttermilk to drip off.
  • Dip each chicken thigh first into the egg wash and then coat evenly with the flour mixture, pressing it onto the chicken to ensure it sticks well.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer to 180°C (356°F).
  • Carefully place the coated chicken thighs into the hot oil and fry for about 6-8 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through, checking with a meat thermometer to ensure they reach an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F).
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on paper towels to drain excess oil.
